As we continue to work on completing assessments which will contribute to Centre Determined Grades please find below a link to our Centre Determined Grade Policy which has been approved and verified by CCEA and can be found on our school website.
During the month of May teachers will be standardising and moderating grades at subject level, this will then be followed by whole school moderation at Senior Leadership level before grades are submitted to CCEA. In line with CCEA guidance, teachers will be considering the portfolio of evidence for each student and will make a holistic judgement on a grade which is informed and supported by evidence. In June and July CCEA will then carry out moderation of evidence and grades submitted. The Centre Determined Grades submitted to CCEA are confidential and cannot be disclosed to pupils or parents. Results will be issued for AS and A2 on Tuesday 10th of August with GCSE results following on Thursday 12th August.
This has been an incredibly challenging year for our Years 12, 13 and 14 students. I am confident that the high control assessments that we have carried out and the range of other evidence that we have used to determine grades will stand up to scrutiny from CCEA and meet the demands of the Joint Council for Qualifications.
Please note that if you wish to apply for Special Consideration for your son/daughter the deadline is as follows:
AS/A2 11am Thursday 13th May
GCSE 11am Monday 24th May
After these deadlines applications cannot be considered.
Students in Year 12 and 14
When students in Year 12 and 14 have completed their assessments they no longer need to attend school. For students who are now ready to move on to the next stage of their learning journey I would like to wish them all the very best for the future. These young people who have completed their education in the most testing of circumstances and really do have our admiration and respect- well done! Class of 2021 ….will always be remembered.
Students in Year 13
All year 13 work must be finished by Friday 4th June. Until then, if students are finished they are not required in school. Students who will be applying to university next year should attend school on the following days to complete their UCAS applications:
Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th June- 13R
Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th June - 13F
From the week beginning 14th June, all Year 13 students must attend school as teachers will begin Year 14 work. Head boy and Head girl interviews will also take place on Monday 14th June.
I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to your young person who, against a backdrop of a global pandemic, has continued with their studies since March 2020. We have been on a journey of many twists and turns in the world of education but we are almost there.
If you are a parent of a Year 12 or 14 leaver and this is an end to your journey too with North Coast Integrated College, I would like to thank you for your support and commitment to your son and daughter over their time here.
All the very best,
